Diverse Polarimetric Features of AGN Jets from Various Viewing Angles: Towards a Unified View
نویسندگان
چکیده
Here, we demonstrate that polarization properties show a wide diversity depending on viewing angles. To simulate images of supermassive black hole and surrounding plasma, performed full-polarimetric general relativistic radiative transfer based three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics models with moderate magnetic strengths. Under an assumption hot-jet cold-disk in the electron temperature prescription, confirmed typical scenario where polarized synchrotron emissions from funnel jet experience Faraday rotation conversion equatorial disk. Further, found linear vectors are inevitably depolarized for edge-on-like observers, whereas portion survive reach observers face-on-like cases. We also circular components have persistent signs face-on cases, changing edge-on It is these features smoothly connected via intermediate viewing-angle These results due to rotation/conversion different angles, suggest combination polarimetry can give constraint inclination between observer hole's (and/or disk's) rotating-axis plasma jet--disk structure. lead more statistical unified interpretation active galactic nuclei.

متن کاملKinematics of AGN Jets
The fine-scale structure and the kinematics of relativistic active galactic nuclei (AGN) jets have been studied by very-long-baseline interferometry at very high resolutions since 1998 at 2 cm wavelength for a sample of over a hundred radio sources (VLBA 2cm Survey and MOJAVE programs). Since 2007, this is being complemented by the TANAMI project, based on southern observations with the Austral...
متن کاملPolarization of AGN Jets
The sensitivity, stability, and uniformity of calibration of the VLBA has revolutionized parsec-scale polarization studies of AGN jets. Not only does polarization probe the magnetic field structures of jets, serving as a hydrodynamic tracer of shocks, bends, and shear, but polarization also probes the medium through which it propagates by encoding the signature of Faraday effects along the line...
متن کاملSN2002es-LIKE SUPERNOVAE FROM DIFFERENT VIEWING ANGLES
In this letter, we compare optical light curves of two SN2002es-like Type Ia supernovae, iPTF14atg and iPTF14dpk, from the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory. Although the two light curves resemble each other around and after maximum, they show distinct early-phase rise behavior in the r -band. On the one hand, iPTF14atg revealed a slow and steady rise which lasted for 22 days with a mean r...
متن کاملUltracompact jets in AGN
We study the properties of ultracompact jets in several prominent radio sources A), using the frequency dependence of observed position of the optically thick jet core. Frequency dependent offsets of the core positions are used for calculating the luminosities, magnetic fields, and geometrical properties of the jets. Opacity effects are studied, for both synchrotron self–absorption and external...
